Part overview
When you click a Part in the outline sidebar, the main area switches to the Part overview. This is a bird’s-eye view of everything inside that part — all its chapters, scenes, notes, and drafts.
The Part overview has four tabs across the top.
Stories tab
The Stories tab shows one card per chapter, laid out in columns. Each card is a reading preview of the chapter’s prose — you can scroll through it horizontally to get a feel for the chapter’s shape and pacing.
Toggle between per-scene columns (each scene in its own column) and merged flow (all scenes as one continuous text) using the scene count button at the top of the card.
A progress strip and page dot indicator at the bottom of each card show how long the chapter is.
Scenes tab
The Scenes tab shows all scenes across every chapter in the part, in a four-column grid grouped by chapter header.
What you can do here
- Browse — scan the synopsis and metadata of every scene at a glance
- Edit metadata — click any scene card to edit its title, synopsis, characters, or places inline
- Reorder scenes — drag scene cards within a chapter group
- Move scenes between chapters — drag a scene card to a different chapter group
- Preview — hover for a Story Preview popover to read the scene text
- Navigate — click Open in chapter to jump directly to that scene in the editor
- Add scenes — each chapter header has an “Append scene to this chapter” button
Notes tab
Shows all notes in the part in a four-column grid, grouped by chapter header. Each chapter group has an Add note button.
Useful for reviewing research material across the whole part without opening chapters one by one.
Drafts tab
Shows all drafts in the part in a three-column card layout, grouped by chapter. Useful for reviewing alternate passages and cut text at the part level.
Part title
The Part title is editable directly in the Part overview toolbar. Click it to rename the part.
