Exporting your novel

Opening the Export panel

Choose File → Export… (⌘E) or File → Export As → and pick a format directly.

The Export panel shows format tabs across the top, settings on the left, and a live preview on the right with a thumbnail strip.

What is exported

Only story text is exported — Parts, Chapters, and Scenes in order. Notes, Drafts, scene synopses, character profiles, and place details are not included.

PDF

The most configurable export format. Settings are organised in tabs:

Type tab

Layout tab

Header tab

Cover tab

ePub

Exports an EPUB 3 file suitable for most e-readers, iBooks, and self-publishing platforms.

Settings include:

Word (.docx)

Exports a .docx file with proper Word styles applied:

Cora structure Word style
Book title Title
Part heading Heading 1
Chapter heading Heading 2
Scene text Normal

The resulting file is editable in Microsoft Word, Pages, Google Docs, and any DOCX-compatible editor.

Plain text (folder)

Exports a folder of .txt files organised to mirror your novel’s structure:

My Novel/
  1 Part One/
    1 Chapter One.txt
    2 Chapter Two.txt
  2 Part Two/
    3 Chapter Three.txt

Each .txt file contains all scenes from that chapter, joined with double line breaks. One file per chapter.

Settings are remembered

Export settings for each format are saved between sessions. The last settings you used will be pre-filled the next time you export.
