About Cora Novel
Cora started as a personal problem. The person writing it — a novelist working on a long manuscript — couldn’t find an editor that got out of the way. Word processors kept offering formatting menus. Note-taking apps kept trying to be everything. Scrivener was powerful but felt like managing a project, not writing a book.
What was missing was something simple: a clean text editor that understood the shape of a novel — Parts, Chapters, Scenes — and nothing else. Drag to reorder. Notes that don’t interrupt the flow. Drafts as a safe place to experiment. Fast. Offline. Private.
So Cora was built.
The philosophy
Every decision in Cora comes back to a single question: does this help the writing, or does it get in the way?
No AI writing assistant. No autocomplete. No suggestions. The blank page is yours. You can use other tools for research — we won’t stop you — but the actual writing is between you and the cursor.
No formatting either. Cora stores plain text without Markdown rendering, because the prose matters more than the font. Export handles the typography when the draft is done.
No cloud login. Your .cora file lives on your disk (or in your iCloud Drive,
which you own). We have no access to your writing, no server it ever touches, no account
to manage.
